Personal protective equipment

The proper use of plant protection products entails wearing suitable protective equipment. It consists of protective suit, gloves, protection for the head, respiratory and eye protection, rubber apron and foot protection. The equipment needed is determined on an individual basis for each plant protection product, since it depends on the product properties and the application method. It is indicated on the packaging of a plant protection product which equipment is mandatory. In order to protect their health, operators must ensure that safety precautions are taken.

The BVL guideline on personal protective equipment for handling plant protection products describes the demands made on elements of personal protective equipment which can be required as part of authorisation in order to be able to exclude harmful effects to users' health when handling the products.
